Frozen Bowdrill Skills
Bowdrill will be bowdrill whether it`s summer or winter. But the conditions is not the same. Not for the bowdrill set, not for the tinder and not for the person making it happen.
When doing this in the winter, snow and cold, there are more variables to consider than else. Frozen wood, very little tinder choices, snow and other obstacles to go thru. Practice is key.
I did not show the making of the set itself, you can find that in many of my other videos if needed.

Hidden survival kit
Переглядів 12 тис.4 роки тому
Survival kits are popular, but I see to often that they are not adapted to the person or to the right environment. Sometimes they are so big that it will be unpractical to carry. In this video I show how I tuck away a few essential items to be sure they will always be with me. Its not complete in any situation, but these parts are universal for almost any environment. A propper survival kit is ...
Mergerra Clothing Review
Переглядів 5 тис.4 роки тому
After the video "2days-30km-NoFood" I got a lot of questions about the clothing I used, specially the jacket. Both Jacket and trousers are from a small Swedish company called MERGERRA. I got to know this brand thru a highly educated Swedish Survival Instructor who have had some influence in the design of this jacket. What I did not mention in this review, is that you can get both the pants and ...

I went for this adventure to push myself, and at the same time test if the Mergerra Steinar Jacket was up for the task of helping you when you are missing your gear. The trek was about 30km in straight line, but I do a lot of extra walking due to filming. I did not bring any food, I did eat some berries, but there was not many left this late of the year. Enjoy! On trips like this I bring emerge...

The need to connect
Переглядів 7 тис.5 років тому
This is a slightly different video from what I usually do. From time to time I feel the need to escape from the Matrix world we live in and connect with the real world, as it should be. Usually without a camera, but I want to share this to maybe influence more people to connect with the nature. Creating fire still gives a satisfaction as it has for the human rase for thousands of years. The mag...

In this video you will get some real information about the typical survival book water filter. And a lot of more useful info about purifying water. This type of survival filters are good, but they do not purify contaminated water into clean drinking water, as some books and videos claims. But they can filter away a lot of impurities, making the water ready for disinfection by boiling, chemical ...

You could put the saw blade inside a suitable capped pvc pipe and attach it to your knapsack if there was no other way to carry it with you! I carry an older pack saw where 3 blades fit inside the aluminum frame with a folding Inside my knapsack! One fine tooth for cutting thru bone, two others for wood! Received it as a gift from my friend when I was in my early 20’s, he since has passed!it weighs less than a pound and has lasted almost 50 years so far!

I use my Jerven similarly in cold dry conditions and I also use a vapour barrier depending on conditions but when the temp approaches zero and the humidity becomes a factor I had a situation where I slept in my bag inside my Jerven and I suspected the temp and humidity would be an issue so I ran a ridge line between the Jerven bag and the top of my sleeping bag forming almost a tent a couple of inches off my bag. I did this hoping the extra air flow (I left the head and foot open) would prevent moisture building up between the Jerven bags insulation and shell. Well I woke up dry and comfortable and couldn't feel any moisture but as I broke camp I hung the Jerven up and almost immediately water started pouring out of the zippers at the bottom. I estimate at least 1-2 cups of water came out and I fear a second night in that setup would have soaked my sleeping bag if I couldn't dry the Jerven. This isn't a fault of the Jerven bag and I consider my bag an essential winter camping item but it is something folks need to keep in mind. Love your set up.
